CHAT

Active since 2014, the Centre d’histoire et d’archives du travail (CHAT) is dedicated to preserving the memory of unions in Québec. To do so, it supports unions in the preservation and treatment of their archives and makes these archives accessible to the public. The CHAT seeks to safeguard the documentary evidence of the struggles of unions to improve working conditions, and to make the history of unions available to the next generation of unionists. It publishes a quarterly bulletin titled La mémoire du Travail, and a number of different resources, research reports and other publications on the history of the trade union movement in Québec and its archival landscape.

Actif depuis 2014, le Centre d’histoire et d’archives du travail (CHAT) a pour mission de préserver la mémoire des syndicats au Québec. Pour ce faire, il soutient les syndicats dans la préservation et le traitement de leurs archives et rend ces archives accessibles au public. Le CHAT cherche à sauvegarder la documentation des luttes des syndicats pour l’amélioration des conditions de travail et à rendre l’histoire des syndicats accessible à la prochaine génération de syndicalistes. Il publie un bulletin trimestriel intitulé La mémoire du travail, ainsi que différentes ressources, rapports de recherche et autres publications sur l’histoire du mouvement syndical au Québec et son paysage archivistique.
