Ingenium is the umbrella organization that maintains and interprets Canada’s national collections for Science and Innovation. Its mandate is to explore, document, research, celebrate, and critically engage with how science and technology shapes and is shaped by individual Canadians and their communities. Ingenium collaborates with communities, researchers, and other cultural/heritage institutions in order to put the historical collection in conversation with today’s key science, technology, and social issues. It operates three museums: the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum, the Canada Aviation and Space Museum and the Canada Science and Technology Museum. It also includes the Ingenium Centre, a newly built facility designed to provide greater public access to the collection, that houses a Research Institute and Digital Innovation Lab, as well as a collection of more than 85,000 artifacts.
