Transnationalizing Deindustrialization Studies: Deindustrialization and the Politics of Our Time (DePOT) 2022 Conference
August 17-20, 2022, beginning at 9am (GMT+2/Berlin Time)
The program for DePOT’s Transnationalizing Deindustrialization Studies conference is now available. The inter-disciplinary conference will be taking place in the Ruhr in Germany from August 17-20. The conference will begin with an open public roundtable on Wednesday, August 17 at 7pm in Dortmund titled “Industrial Heritage for whom? Deindustrialization and the Politics of Our Time”
The following two days will be broken down into twelve sessions between August 18th and 19th that include:
- Rethinking Industrialization
- The Politics of Industrial Closure
- Gendering Industrialization
- Deindustrializing Cities
- Worker Displacement and Resistance
- Political Economy of Industrialization
- Transnational Industrial Heritage Politics
- Rural and Small Town Deindustrialization
- Traces, Heritage and Material Culture
- The Music, Media and Discourse of Deindustrialization
- Writing Deindustrialization Workshop
- Artifact and Material Culture Workshop
Additionally, on August 20th you will be able to choose one of three options for a Guided Tour:
- UNESCO World Heritage Zeche Zollverein, incl. Ruhr Museum, Essen
- Gasometer Oberhausen, St. Antony Hütte, Siedlung Eisenheim
- Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord, Duisburg Innenhafen
