Phil is a teacher, researcher, and writer, and recently completed an M.A. in History at the University of Guelph under the supervision of Dr. Alan Gordon and Dr. Rob Kristofferson. His thesis focused on worker heritage, community education, and deindustrialization in Ontario. After completing a B.A. in History and Journalism/Creative Writing at Bishop’s University, he completed an M.A. in Teaching and Learning at McGill University and taught in Montreal for two years. More recently, he has worked as a historical researcher for the University of Guelph COVID-19 Catalyst and Research Development Fund and as a researcher for the People’s Archive of Rural Ontario.
