The former coal washing plant at the UNESCO Zollverein World Heritage Site is the home of the Ruhr Museum, the regional museum of the Ruhr area. In its spectacular industrial setting, the Museum showcases the natural, cultural, and industrial history of the Ruhr region. It holds extensive geological, archeological, historical and photographic collections on the Ruhr, consisting primarily of artefacts from the former Ruhrlandmuseum. The Ruhr Museum is also partnered with the Denkmalpfad (Zollverein Heritage Trail), the Route der Industriekultur (The Industrial Heritage Trail) and the Portal der Industriekultur (Portal of Industrial Heritage).
