(Un)just Transitions?: Deindustrialization and the Environment DePOT Conference

Concordia University, Montréal, QC, Canada June 18-20 2026

Thank you for participating!

The organizing team would like to extend a warm thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of the conference “(Un)just Transitions? Deindustrialization and the Environment,” held at Concordia University in Montreal from June 18 to 20, 2026.

Over the course of three days rich in exchange, researchers, students, and practitioners from diverse backgrounds explored the many intersections between deindustrialization and environmental history. The presentations, discussions, and meetings helped bring to light new perspectives on the challenges of industrial, environmental, and social transitions, while opening up new avenues for international collaboration.

We extend our sincere thanks to all participants, speakers, session chairs, as well as volunteers, partners, and Concordia University for their commitment and support throughout this event.

We hope that the conversations initiated at this conference will continue to enrich research on deindustrialization, environmental transitions, and their social and political dimensions.

For those who couldn’t attend, you can still find our programme in both English and French, the call for papers, and six recorded sessions from the conference!

Thank you to everyone for making the 2026 edition of the DePOT conference an opportunity for reflection, sharing, and collaboration. We look forward to seeing you again at future DePOT network meetings.
