We are delighted to highlight two exhibitions by former DePOT Artists-in-Residence, whose recent work continues to explore the social, cultural, and environmental legacies of deindustrialization.

Francesca Marconi, our 2022–23 Artist in Residence, presents Manifesto al Presente / Striking Present (13 April – 30 June), which draws on archival research conducted in the historic industrial areas of Breda, Falck, and Marelli in northeast Milan. The exhibition connects the experiences of the post-war working class with the realities of precarious labour today, weaving together memory, history, and contemporary social transformation.

Jennifer Vanderpool, DePOT Artist in Residence (2023–24), presents Reframing Wentworth Woodhouse’s Untold Stories (27 January – 28 June). Combining history, contemporary art, and community voices, the exhibition explores the lived experiences of working-class communities across South Yorkshire. Drawing on interviews with local residents, Vanderpool examines the enduring social and cultural impacts of deindustrialization.

We warmly congratulate the artists on these inspiring exhibitions.
